Saugerties Democratic Committee March in July 4th Parade
Over 50 energized SDC members were led by Bill Barr as they marched in celebration of our history of Liberty and Justice for ALL. Partners from Indivisible Saugerties and the LGBTQ+ community joined in on our float and enjoyed the enthusiastic support from the onlookers along the 2 mile route through the Village.

SDC Announces Candidate for Town Board
The Ulster County Democratic Committee to Fill Vacancies selected Bill Barr, longtime climate activist and a U.S. Navy veteran. Barr said in a statement that “current conditions in our nation demand that we not be timid or reluctant to stand up for our country and our communities.”
The Saugerties Democratic Committee is thrilled to have such an accomplished and dedicated patriot join the ticket that also includes incumbent Fred Costello for Town Supervisor and Stephanie Bassler for Town Board.
Barr came from a family that believed in social responsibility, where contributing to the community and caring for one’s neighbors were expected. As a longtime resident of Saugerties, Barr has been actively involved in the Town and Village including as a member of the Village Planning Board. With a Master’s degree in Sociology from Wichita State University and a Master’s in National Security Strategy from the National Defense University, Barr will bring a humanitarian heart and a logical mind to the Town government.
